An article about the success of the Alma Bryant Archery Team placing 3rd in the world at the First International World Tournament in Orlando, Florida, in October, was submitted for news publication recently. The Alma Bryant team also consisted of two sixth grade star students at Grand Bay Middle School - Kattie R. and Miles W.
Kattie placed 1st in the world in her grade and 3rd in the girls' elementary division with a score of 282. She won a limited-edition bow, bow case, target, arrows, plaque, and a medallion for her efforts. Kattie scored 4th out of 24 shooters on the Bryant team. She has also placed 1st at NASP (National Archery in the Schools Program) state and national tournaments.
Miles was also a member of the Bryant team, and received a 3rd place medallion for being a member of the 3rd place team in the world. He has also shot at NASP state and national tournaments. Miles scored 14th out of 24 shooters on the Bryant team.
Alma Bryant Archery Coach Roy Richardson and his Archery Program members would like to recognize the coaches of these two 6th grade shooters: Anessa Freeland (Breitling Elementary Archery Coach), Mr. Gary Jordan (world class 3-D shooter and mentor to the Bryant Archery Program), and Bryant Hurricane Archery Coaches Jackie Skinner, Tina Miracle, and Marsha Shepard. Bryant Archery Team members Joshua Clarke (the top male shooter on Bryant's team) and Jerrica Webster put in valuable instructional time coaching these sixth graders. We would also like to thank our sponsors and communities for their continued support.
