August 2009

Dear Parent or Guardian of an Alma Bryant Senior:

We hope you will find this information helpful for your future planning.  As you may know from past experience or have heard from others, senior year is an expensive one.  Many items are optional and you can spend as much or as little as you choose.  The things that require payment are the cap and gown fee and the senior fee.

•1        The senior fee is $50.00 if paid before January and $60.00 thereafter.  It will be refunded if your son or daughter transfers out of school.  This money takes care of many things that are necessary expenditures for the programs and events connected with graduation:  the senior breakfast, graduation and class night programs, decorations, class slide show, diplomas, class night awards, the senior class gift, and many other things.

•2        The senior sweats will be ordered the last week of September.  The students will have the option of purchasing t-shirts, sweat shirts, and sweat pants.

•3        The senior supply presentation will be October 21st during first block and seniors should bring home a catalog of items you may want to purchase including graduation announcements, name cards, etc.  The order will be taken on October 28 & 29 during lunch waves.  Balfour requires a $60.00 deposit or the total cost of the order.  If you have a balance, they will send you reminders until February when the total must be paid.  Senior supplies are delivered sometime in March.

•4        The cap and gown order will be in January.  The cost is $60.00 and includes the cap and tassel, stole, gown rental, and an engraved diploma cover.  Seniors keep everything but the gown.  The cap and gown is a requirement for participation in commencement exercises at the Mitchell Center.  Balfour is good about refunding this cap and gown fee if for some reason your senior does not graduate.

•5        Seniors must also clear any debts they owe to the school for library fines, lost textbooks, or class fees before they can receive a diploma.

•6        As soon as we receive our graduation time and date, we will pass this information on to your student.  If you have any other questions, please call the school at 824-3213 extension 13605.

Sincerely,

Sherry Hart                 Genevieve Rigby                    Gloria Urban
